Details on New Battlefield 2042 Game Mode: Hazard Zone

Battlefield 2042 is a highly anticipated title that’s already being seen as superior to Call of Duty: Vanguard. In fact, many people have speculated that Battlefield 2042 will push Call of Duty to improve on their own franchise.

But now some fans are saying that Battlefield 2042’s game mode Hazard Zone is quite similar to Call of Duty: Warzone or Escape From Tarkov, a FPS and action role playing game with realistic combat.

Battlefield 2042 is expected to be released on October 22 with a beta test allegedly coming on September 22. This will give fans a chance to experience the game first-hand. Hazard Zone is a “high-stakes, squad-based game” mode that won’t have more official details released by DICE until after the beta. This has left many in the FPS community speculating that the game is quite similar to existing titles.

Sources close to Battlefield 2042 told GamesBeat that this is actually quite an accurate assumption. While the game will feel very Battlefield-like and have a focus on dynamic, constantly changing objectives that set it apart from more straightforward FPS modes, it still has similar elements.

What is Battlefield 2042 Hazard Zone?

Not much is known at the moment about Hazard Zone since developers don’t plan to share official details until after the beta.

But like other battle royale modes, Hazard Zone is all about being the last team to survive. Players who die are permanently eliminated from the team.

This is what has people wondering if Battlefield 2042’s new game mode will have enough to set it apart from existing games.

While Hazard Zone has the overall same objective of most battle royales (surviving), the goals throughout the match set it apart from Warzone and Apex Legends. Players start by extracting intel throughout the map while avoiding enemy teams and AI guards. Procedural objectives will keep the match dynamic and tense. There will also be weather-related events that create critical situations for players.

Battle royales continue to be ever-popular in the FPS genre. It’s currently unclear if Hazard Zone will become a contender among the likes of Fortnite, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty: Warzone. There are currently other battle royales out there, including ones where you play as a vampire or ninja, and these are also becoming pretty successful.
